Franchise Owner
"I graduated from college with a BSc (Mgmt) and worked in sales and marketing roles for six years before I joined MRI Ireland as a consultant in 1997. I was subsequently promoted to the position of Manager of the Dublin office with responsibility for 12 consultants covering the major industry sectors. In 2001 I took the opportunity to move to Sweden to help launch and build the MRI office in Gothenburg but then, after a two-year stint in Scandinavia, I returned to Ireland to open my own MRI office.
I am the Owner Manager of an MRINetwork office, responsible for growing and developing the company’s business, building the MRI team locally and ensuring that we add value to our client companies in the assignments we carry out for them.
For me, the job always seems worthwhile when we succeed in placing top performers in key roles and in doing so solve our clients’ pain! Every day has its milestones though: identifying top performers in the marketplace; receiving their CVs; getting excellent reference checks; arranging interviews; and, of course, finalising placements. From a client perspective real achievements are winning new assignments, helping them solve their recruitment requirements and being paid!
In 2000 I achieved CSAM (Certified Senior Account Manager) certification after achieving certain levels of achievement. When I started with the business I went through all the foundation-level training and I have successfully completed a number of mastery courses as a business owner. The training is ongoing from when you join the business, right until the end of your career.
A highlight of my job is working with my team. They know they are making a difference, they love what they do and they strive to deliver the best possible level of service to our clients and our candidates. I would like to think I lead from the front and deliver consistent billings which inspire them. Using a golf analogy, I would see myself as a caddy that is always there to give discreet but valuable advice when required. The atmosphere in the office is relaxed, we know what constitutes success in the workplace and we work towards this.
In terms of future plans, we aim to grow the business through new vertical markets as well as expanding further into the Contracting side of the business (at the moment we focus our recruitment activities on Executive Search for permanent positions). Our goal is to break through the €2m billing barrier before the end of 2008.
In summary, MRINetwork is a great place to constantly learn, the training is superb, and we are well placed within a network of talented individuals who are always there to help." (Stephen Kennedy, MRINetwork Talent Partners)
