Though the construction industry added 5,000 jobs in April, concern surrounding the dip in specialty trade employment remains, according to The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration NEWS.
Data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics jobs report indicated that despite the overall job growth last month, the specialty trade division lost 1,500 jobs. Jack Jacobson of the Construction Employers of America expressed worry that job expansion in that sector may be falling flat.
Jacobson called on “immediate action from Congress” to help bring back jobs to specialty trade through tax reform. He also noted that a public construction infrastructure package could help to bring relief.
