Employment in the plastics sector of the manufacturing industry is edging up in different areas of the country, as both North Carolina and Ohio will soon see more than 200 jobs added between both states.
R&D Plastics in Hickory, North Carolina plans to add 16 jobs to its plant by adding a new production line, part of a planned expansion of their plant by 50 percent, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. Its expansion will bring a new warehouse to its factory, which creates plastic used in fiber optic cables and inside foam welding furniture in popular brands. R&D Plastics is also planning to add production of water “noodles,” long tubes, that children frequently play with while swimming, according to the news source.
In Cincinnati, meanwhile, plastics company iMFLUX Inc plans to expand its operations capacity in the next three years, according to Cincinnati.com. In that time, they will add 221 jobs to their staff, with some open positions including a manufacturing plant superintendent, an injection mold design engineer and a plastics process controls engineer. The company helps to develop new technologies in the field.
