Magee Resource Group, LLC (MRG), an affiliate of MRINetwork®, one of the largest search and recruitment organizations in the world, announced that it has transferred ownership from founders Charles and Gerri Magee to business managers, Stan Wallace and Christian Burney. The new joint partners are well-positioned to lead the company through the post-recession era and beyond, as the climate shifts to an overwhelmingly candidate-driven marketplace in the executive, managerial and professional sector.
Wallace and Burney joined the firm in 2005 as executive recruiters and moved into management roles in 2010. “This is the best possible scenario in terms of succession,” says Charles Magee. “Stan and Christian had eight years to learn every aspect of the business from recruiting top talent to running the company. We are confident that we are leaving our clients and our employees in good hands.”
Founded in 1991, MRG specializes in the recruitment of executive and management-level candidates for the healthcare and information technology industries. The new owners are taking over at a time when executive and professional search has become largely candidate-driven. “Candidates have much more control over the hiring process, including the speed and time frame of that process,” observes Wallace. “If employers fail to recognize this simple fact, finding the right talent will become an increasingly difficult challenge in today’s environment.”
According to a recent MRINetwork Recruiter Sentiment Study, 79 percent of the participating recruiters describe the labor market as candidate-driven, up 12 percent from just a year ago. “This trend is certainly reflected in our business today, where top performers in healthcare management and SAP are at a strong advantage,” says Wallace. “These candidates are interviewing with multiple companies and have multiple offers to consider.”
Another trend that Wallace and Burney are focusing on is contract staffing – placing professionals at client companies for assignments that last as long as the client needs the candidate. “Contract staffing is increasingly becoming a way for employers to meet deadlines and fulfill project needs without the long-term commitment of hiring permanent staff,” says Burney. “Over the 22 years MRG has been in business, we have developed ongoing relationships with the players in our markets. We know who they are, where they work and what motivates them. These contacts mean that we can find the qualified people our clients want on either a full-time or contract basis.”
Wallace and Burney anticipate a strong finish for their business in 2013. “With the unemployment rate for the managerial and professional space at 4.2 percent, we know that competition for the best candidates will continue to heat up throughout the rest of the year,” says Wallace.
