T-Mobile recently announced that it will be opening more than 40 stores over the next year, which will create 350 new jobs in the Chicago area, Chicago Business reported. The expansion equates to a 15 percent growth in stores, adding to its existing 263 locations.
Chicago Business added that although approximately 300 of the added positions will be in retail sales and management, engineering jobs will also be available.
According to the mobile carrier’s press release, the new stores are expected to take up over 50,000 square feet of retail space, with locations in DuPage, Cook and other nearby counties. News of the added jobs came at the same time that T-Mobile revealed it is now offering more coverage and capacity throughout Chicago city and suburbs through its extended-range LTE signal.
“T-Mobile is betting big in Chicago!” T-Mobile Area Vice President Kenya Dunn said in the announcement. “With a better, stronger network and more stores in the Chicago area, we’re giving wireless customers in Chicagoland more choices and more places they can get personalized service from the network with the most satisfied customers in wireless.”
T-Mobile also noted that it will be adding more MetroPCS stores which, in combination with the new T-Mobile locations, will result in almost 20 percent retail footprint growth in the area.
