Tech Elevator, a Cleveland-based IT training firm, announced plans to bring new educational programs to all of Ohio’s largest cities, in an effort to promote tech careers among state residents.
According to Crain’s Cleveland Business, while the first of these programs – slated to take place in Cincinnati – will only train 12 students, Tech Elevator’s ultimate goal is considerably bigger.
By 2017’s end, the company plans to graduate 100 students who will thus be properly equipped to seek IT jobs in the state.
Tech Elevator’s CEO, Anthony Hughes, told the news source that sign-ups for the course, which is 14 weeks long, have already begun. He plans for it to start in October 2017, and Cleveland and Columbus will play hosts to the other two programs not long after that.
While not typically considered a prominent fount of technical innovation like Silicon Valley or Boston, Ohio and the Midwest as a whole have been attracting notable interest from companies in the field during the past year, according to Computerworld’s 2017 IT jobs report on the North Central Region. Chicago, in particular, saw massive growth among its various tech businesses.
